2. Overview

mood2anime is an anime discovery service. We process personal data only as needed to operate the website, your account, communicate with you, or – with your consent – for anonymous usage statistics.

3. Hosting and infrastructure

The website runs on servers operated by Hetzner Online GmbH (Germany). Server management is handled via Laravel Forge. When you visit the site, technically necessary connection data (e.g. IP address, timestamp, requested URL, user agent) is processed in server log files. Legal basis: Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR (legitimate interest in stable operation).

4. AniList and third-party content

Anime metadata (titles, descriptions, covers, streaming links, etc.) comes mainly from the public API of AniList. Loading this content may transmit your IP address to AniList or image CDN hosts. We have no control over the accuracy or completeness of this data. Legal basis: Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR.

5. User account and authentication

When you register, we store your email address, display name, and a hashed password. We use session cookies for login (Laravel session). Legal basis: Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR (contract performance).

6. Watchlist and local storage

Your watchlist and swipe preferences are stored in the browser (localStorage). When logged in, we sync the watchlist to our database. Legal basis: Art. 6(1)(b) or (f) GDPR.

7. Email delivery (Brevo)

For transactional emails (e.g. password reset) we use Brevo (Sendinblue SAS, France). Your email address and message content are processed. Legal basis: Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR.

8. Web analytics

We do not currently use any web analytics tool. No visitor statistics are collected via tools such as Google Analytics or Plausible. If we introduce such a tool in the future, we will update this policy and obtain consent where required.

Note: Google Search Console is only used for technical indexing in Google Search and does not track visitors on mood2anime.

Independently of this, we count page views server-side without cookies, without storing your IP address and without linking them to your account. We only store the page visited and the time. We count how often sponsored content is shown in the same anonymous way. This tells us which areas are used and lets us bill ad placements. Page views are deleted automatically after 180 days, ad impressions after 13 months. Legal basis: Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR (legitimate interest in improving and funding the service).

9. Affiliate links

Some links to streaming providers or shops go through our redirect /out/…. On click, partner and target URL are logged; you are redirected to the external provider, whose privacy policy applies. Legal basis: Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR.

10. Fonts and icons

Fonts, icons and emoji graphics are served from our own server. No data is transferred to third parties such as Google for them.

11. Retention

Session data is deleted after logout or session expiry. Account data remains until you delete your account. Anonymous page views are deleted after 180 days, ad impressions after 13 months. Server logs are rotated after a standard period. Cookie-banner consent is stored in localStorage until you change or clear it.

12. Your rights

You have the right to access, rectification, erasure, restriction of processing, data portability, and objection (Art. 15–21 GDPR). Contact hello@mood2anime.com. You may lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority.
